Global food supply chains have been hit hard by Russian military attack on Ukraine. Commodity prices, including food and energy, have skyrocketed and food security in many countries is at risk. The current threat to food security is taking place at the background of the significant policy change in the EU to make food supply chains greener. The new European Green Deal aims to reduce dependence on pesticides and antimicrobials, fertilization, increase the area of organic farming, improve animal welfare and replace fossil fuel-based products with bio-products. Our project will address all these issues. We will estimate relevant effects of current events (war shocks, impacts of policies) on prices and income distribution along food supply chains, the effects of organic farming on economic indicators of farms as well as on environmental indicators, and the effects of policies on adaptation of organic farming and other activities beneficial for the environment.
