Competitiveness of pork production in the chosen EU countries
Anotácia:
Abstract:
The aim of the research was to compare the productivity ratios in breeding pigs in the chosen EU countries. In the research one used data from the report of the British organization on the pigs market called BPEX. The research shows that the largest pork producers in the European Union compete with each other with respect to the production ratios achieved in pigs breeding. With respect to the economic fertility, the most competitive are the pork producers from Denmark, France and the Netherlands. They achieve also high live weight gains. In these countries the average lean meat percentage in porkers amounted to more than 60.0%. The ratios achieved by Polish pork producers are considerably lower than those of the biggest producers of the same kind of meat in Western Europe.
