New on Farm Activities in Holland
Anotácia:
Abstract:
The Netherlands has become one of the most developed agricultural countries in the EU. Using alternative ways in the rural areas and the endeavour to achieve sustainability are also essential in the Dutch agriculture. Among the small and middle-scale enterprises even more and more farmers gave up the traditional ways of farming. They introduced new on farm activities just to ensure extra incomes beside normal agricultural production. With multifunctional farming those farmers could reach competitive advantages in the market. In some cases supports can also be asked from both local and EU founds. What kinds of new on farm activities still exist in the Netherlands that could also be introduced in the Central European area, and why they should be introduced? Finding answers and solutions to this question can help to develop and support the creation of a sustainable competitive agriculture.
